Why did Illusionary Weapon fall out of favor? Did key skill in IW builds get nerfed? I just created a Mesmer not long ago and didn't know if there were any builds that were still used. Are there any good PvE IW builds out there?

Which it still does.

mainly because iw is just a gimmick build and no really use for it but if you want a build try this my gwen uses it and she is a great tank in pve hehe [build=OQplAIB8Qpmr4ggxvr3uN71EECEA] +1 inspiration +1+1 illusion radiant insignets, sword +5 energy,20%enchant,cripple 33% and +30 -2enchant shield the mystic regen nef killed it for a while but now with it bosted back up its still workable play with it see how it goes

o_O; Illusionary Weaponry doesn't suck! It's a lot of fun to play. Whenever I want to play melee (at a medium to easy area), I use my IW-FLURRY build to have some fun. I just have to be careful of enemies with Enchant removal, in which case, I just use some backup sword skills to deal with my enemies. Also, I use Illusionary Weaponry for my 55-Me/Mo build (and, yes, you can actually set one up if you got the right build). Illusionary Weaponry is cool!

Depends on how you look at it, in pvp it epic fails and should never be thought of using.

In pve its consistent damage.

the damage is slight at best. As for a scythe, signet of midnight + epidemic + sand shards is far better than IW, and even that isn't too great.

I've used IW 55 for a while. Pretty fun but you do have the typical 55 weakness..... imps and hex removal. (Aka North of LA is out due to imps and skale, at least to any 55s I know) Fun once in a while, don't plan on it being your main build though.

Really if you want to do something like IW, I'd recommend saying goodbye to your mes and saying hello to rit's Spirit's Strength. It's a fun and works on any weapon. But it admittedly misses some of the charm of IW, so keep your mes around for fun and ints.

Sometimes I pull of a IW build in RA for shits and giggles, it's amusing when people blind you and think they're safe. Otherwise there are many more powerfull elites at your disposal. IW is purely for fun.

So true bring on the blind bots

Also fun to go toe to toe with sins or dervs or warriors and watching there bar drop faster then yours. Of course you are running Sins skills that only allow 1/2 damage thru and if your health is below 50% they miss 75% of the time

It is so frustrating to people

But again its a gimick build for PVP and fun to do it.

I like Illusionary weapon mesmers, because they are the easiest zaishen to farm.
